Your Feedbacks
we are on:
Where does the name Mahbibi come from?
Well, the word "Bibi" in our culture typically means grandmother, though it has got an old usage and fewer people use it anymore. But the concept traditionally implies a generous and kind-hearted old lady who is always welcoming others as guests, always cares a lot about everybody, and is well experienced to get good advice from her in all aspects of a good life. the word "Mah", on the other hand, means "the moon", which symbolized prettiness, beauty, and cleanness in Iranian culture. Normally, when we want to refer to the beauty of someone (especially women), we may say she looks like the moon. So, Mahbibi makes the combination of a welcoming, pretty, and experienced lady who you can stay with warmly for some time; as you definitely will with us in Mahbibi 😉
Where does the name Sarv come from?
Sarv is the Persian name for
Cypress tree. In our culture and literature, cypress trees are quite important
in several senses. They are evergreen trees that may never sleep or lose their
greenness; they are very strong, as the trunk gets quite thick after some years
and the roots go deep and spread largely in the ground; despite the strong body
and roots, they are still very flexible and will not break or fall down even by
strong winds. All these make these trees the symbol of longevity and life in
our literature. Also, cypress trees grow quite high and put their tip (head) to
the sky, which is supposed to be the symbol of freedom and not belonging to
this world.
Anyway, we have three old cypress
trees in our courtyard and we try to live like cypress trees as well. This is
why we name this hostel Sarv.
